Beautiful capture (and serves as an excellent example of depth of field)!
Thank you Mike. Since you mention DOF, the hyperfocal distance for that lens at 16mm focal length and at f/14 is about 1 meter. That's about how far away the nearest flowers were, so I focused slightly beyond them to help with sharpness in the far distance. Even at f/14 the DOF would have started about half a meter from the camera if I'd focused at the hyperfocal distance (of course that's at the wide angle end and I would have lost DOF quickly if I'd used any zoom).
The massive rocks parting to give the glimpse of sea is such an engaging composition! I also love their wild, broken structure (what's an appropriate geological description?? ). It is similar to much of Maine's coast.
Of course the flowers are perfectly positioned in the frame. This photo speaks volumes to me.

Thank you Linda. Glad you enjoyed. That part of the coast is deeply fragmented and shows signs of considerable geological upheaval in the past. That's what I've been trying to capture because it's what makes that stretch so distinctive.

The Appalachian Mountains used to be connected to the mountains of the British Isles. Continental drift separated (broke/split) the mountain chain as the Atlantic Ocean was being created. Makes for similar looks in the seaside environments.
Good eye there, Linda. Most folks wouldn't notice.
It's not just trees that can hang on tenaciously. .
This is a prime example of a scene that many folks will never see in real life and yet you have and captured the moment exquisitely while there, Congratulations.👏

Thank you Jim-Pops. It's fairly typical of that area but the flowers won't be there much longer.
Fine image. The rocks draw your eye in and the flowers add a touch of beauty. The flowers growing out of the rocks prove, once again, that life will find a way.

The flowers definitely anchor your foreground. Then we follow that gully down to the water where we are treated to a really nice cloud pattern in the sky. I love this photo. erich
