Thousands of people have volunteered to be human 'guinea pigs' to test the efficacy of Covid-19 vaccines.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/13/us/coronavirus-human-challenge-study-invs/index.html

They would speed up development of vaccine approval by volunteering to be exposed to the virus;
only half would get a vaccine candidate - the other half would be guaranteed good hospital beds - but the authorities have to decide whether to accept their offer, since nobody is sure how an"informed consent" would be written because so much is not known about the virus.

Lawyers in the US will make sure that "consent" is "informed" only if in fact nothing bad happens to you, and if something bad actually does happen then your consent wasn't actually "informed" and you can sue somebody for something with your lawyer getting a third of whatever he can talk a jury into. Consequently, no testing can be done on actual people in the US, and US medical researchers will continue testing on flies and bats and hope they come up with something in a year or two. Shakespeare was right . . .

And you know this how? 'Oh thee of little faith.' On the other hand, maybe all those volunteers are those who dont believe there is any virus to begin with.

Whichever is true, I am appreciative of their courage. I hope it is a well controlled double blind test, and I pray the vaccine is a success and that those who do contract the virus survive. In my book, those are real heros.

And you might want to consider, if you are a volunteer, the amount of long term damage being found in the lungs and organs of those who recover. Herd immunity might not be as useful as you might like.
Official news sources are not making any issues over later body damage because they either don't know or have been told to play it down.

And still these young people volunteer! I believe most are doing it for altruistic reasons.

Autopsies would show damage - I don't know if results have been published anywhere.

Elsewhere on these forums there is a link to a New England Journal of Medicine report of autopsies in which the virus was found in internal organs other than respiratory. Sobering.

Show the science, not speculation.
Speculation like this is for weak minds to be easily manipulated through meaningless fear.

There is no speculation here.
These people have volunteered. Period.

We Got It?
I live in a community of around 80,000 people, next door is a collage community of 10,000 people. Since keeping records we have 11 and 1 reported cases respectively.
The reason the numbers are so low (we think) is the fact that we already had it before the record keeping. we are next to a university that has a 30% asian enrollment. They all went home for Christmas, came back to school and then we all got sick. I mean really sick! Everyone I talked to in the neighborhood said the same thing, " it was like nothing they have ever had before".
This was well before they started keeping records so without the antibody tests we will never know for sure.
The powers that be have to find a new way to address this problem. They can't keep us locked up for ever!
Can they?

Most of the country is relaxing their rules now.
I doubt if you will be locked up much longer - surely someone has noticed your special condition.

With the new antibodies tests I would think you would be prime candidates for those also, but even without them I would expect you to have a strong case for relaxing.

The damage that was speculated on.
