I thought I posted this yesterday but I must not have ever hit the send button. So here is for attempt number 2. I was practicing using flash to create solid white background. I hadn't taken any photos of my ball python Jake in a while so I thought I would use him. These were shot with a Nikon D3300 with a 50mm f/1.8. Settings were ISO 200, f/8, shutter speed was 1/200. I used one bare off camera speed light pointing at the backdrop and my on camera flash to trigger. I covered the on camera flash with a brown napkin so it wouldn't shed much light on my scene. The first one is my favorite. CC welcome. Thanks for looking.

Very good, maggiemae. It appears that you've accomplished your goal.

~ I'd say you have that background washed out very nicely! Jake is well lit as a consequence! Your focus on Jake's head in each image is right on.
I have never done a "Focus Stack" myself, but if Jake stays still long enough, you might be able to pull focus fully front to back with a stack.
Awesome Python, by the way!!

Thank you yorkiebyte. I don't know anything about focus stacking and at the moment I am software limited. I am not sure i could get him to stay still long enough for that anyways. I took several shots and then put him back home. Im sure he was rather unhappy at me for blinding him with bright flashes when he was trying to sleep lol.

Looking at the down loads I would vote for the first one too Maggiemae. The background seems to be a cleaner white all over. The last one (if my eyes are still working) seems to have a grayish tint in the bottom half of the image. Nevertheless they are all nicely done.

Thank you for looking gsmith. I agree about the last one. My son was holding the light at different angles and some of them didnt work as well as others.
