Olympus Flash Issues

I have an Oly E-620. In low light situations, when flash is called for, flash will repeatedly fire and I cannot depress button for shot. Only way to make flash stop is to turn camera off. This happens in AUTO mode. It does not always happen, but happens most of the time. It locks the button and I can't take my shot. I don't know if I've screwed up some settings. Could it be my camera or the "operator"? Any insight would be appreciated. :-(

Ouch ... which flash are you using? Have you got the camera set to enable "focus assist"? (that strobe light effect that is used in low light to help the camera focus) Have you tried doing a reset to the original factory settings?
