Out chasing the Osprey last few weekends. Been too busy to chase during the week. Glad I have the work, hope everyone is getting along as well. This weekend was terrible weather so I finally sat down and edited a couple of images. New editing program so still getting use too. I'd rather be shooting......
Shot with the D850 and my trusted Nikon 80-400mm lens. I took the new Nikon 500mm PF but after clipping the wings on some killer shots I put the zoom lens back on. I just chose a sampling of the shots taken, got hundreds but didn't want to bore you. Most all of these birds shown here are young adults. You will notice they extend their talons as they land. The more mature birds open their talons in the last Split second to grab a branch or touch down, not so showy for the camera. I did get one bird skimming the water, but of coarse this happened directly behind me, straight into the sun. I was able to spin around and capture the shot, but a little weak... I recovered as much as possible, thanks to the raw file. Sometimes it does come in handy.

Hey Rick, I guess you know this is a totally different camera than the older full frame cameras from Nikon. I had to seriously change up my custom menu to lock and stay focused on these birds in a moving boat. Really different than my D600 or the Dx D7200. I bought Steve Perry's Nikon Focusing guide to help me fine tune my settings. You almost have to be a rocket scientist to set these cameras up. One wrong setting and you'll be frustrated for days on end. I see your getting your share of good shots as well.......

Beautiful shots. in years past, this time of year i would be at my parents house on the Eastern Shores of Virginia. My parents house is on a creek that goes out to the bay and now it's nesting time, being from New York State, i have been banned and can't leave the state. Sucks big time.
