That they will most definitely do - anything else ? Secret little coves and delights on hidden tricks that only the locals know about ? Any suggestions ?(Thanx Rolf)
You're in the mountains. Pictures everywhere.
Take time to stop at a coffee shop - listen or better yet talk to locals - bikers, hikers, etc for best places. Canmore - there is a Starbucks in the Safeway lot, which also has a booze store, and a few 'outdoor' stores as well - they all could be good info sources (well not Safeway nor the booze store). Make sure you visit the info centre for the latest bear reports.
Lake Louise - walk the haystack trail, maybe 2 hours but good view of the lake and hotel etc. Popular and marked.
Try Sunshine Meadows just outside of Banff - park, take the bus , hike walk for hours.
etc

Emerald Lake for sure and Bow Falls in the National Park. If they have time they should ride the gondola bus up the glacier, definitely worth it. Every single week for 4 years I drove tourists to Jasper/Banff out of Vancouver BC. Tell your friends to google search Glacier National Park In Jasper. Some wonderful pictures to get them hyped up for their visit. They should also check out the Banff Upper Hot Springs. A cable car ride will show them the whole of Banff. I am very envious, they will have a great time.

I am sure they are going to have a fantastic time. Canada is mostly chocolate-box pretty, so the photo -opp's are there. Thanx for the answers and pointers - if anyone can still think of anything specific - they leave on the 29th of Sept only.

For the parks themselves, have a look at
http://www.pc.gc.ca/progs/np-pn/recherche-search_e.asp?p=1From the list, select Jasper and Banff National Parks.
For a stay in the park, and to travel the Columbia Icefields Parkway, you will need a pass. It may be worth it to compare the price of an annual pass with x number of daily passes.
One "must-see" are the Athabasca Falls, about 30 km south of Jasper!

Thanx Ester - most kind. We've discussed an annual pass and I think (from info I gathered on another forum about Yellowstone) , we came to the conclusion that an annual would be the way to go. Athabasca here they come!
