No, you can't make it up even if you tried with Photoshop. You'll not likely get that unique shot again,
Woodsman. Is your name a big, dark secrete or would you tell me what it is?

That is an unusual sight. Was it hard to train the grouse?

Thanks all, the ruffed grouse is a character. We call him Ruffie. He has been here since last fall. He guards the road through the woods with a vengeance sometimes flying or running after the cars. He also will jump out in front of you and block the road. We go slow through there since its a private road and a single lane. Then he started coming out and walking with you if you walked on the road through the woods. He comes out if you call him but he would not come out if you had a dog with you. In the last few weeks he started tormenting the dog. She will chase him and he runs off a bit, does not fly away although he can fly. When she turns to come back he chases her. And the cycle repeats. Its a big game but she almost had him today. However right after that they both were walking down the road following me when I took this.

Very Interesting. Maybe you ought to trade that dog in for one that would point.

Kewl! I believe birds are a good deal smarter than most people give them credit for.
