This reminds me of a book called "A Martian Wouldn't Say That". It was a compendium of the stupidest things studio executives ever said to producers. One of those things was an exec didn't like the lead character walking away in a specific shot and instead wanted him walking towards the camera. The producer said it would be too expensive to reshoot. The idiot at the the studio said that it didn't have to be reshot. "Just flip the negative over."

There are a number of photographers who seem to believe that post processing can fix any problem. Getting as close to what you want as possible in the field is still best.
