This guy came right up to our window and looked in. One side of his jaw appeared swollen.

A snake bite could cause swelling but this is a bit early for them to be out. Another possibility is someone could have shot him with a pellet rifle. Hope the little guy makes it.

A bacterial infection can cause a disease known as “lumpy jaw” that affects deer.
