Dear friends,
After shooting with my new lens yesterday I was ready to ship it back because my images weren't sharp. Today was a marked improvement but I have some questions about the settings. Do most of you use the VC mode 1,2 or 3? There's also a button that says Full or 10m - 2.2 m. Which should I use? Finally, there's a focusing ring ( I think that's what it's called) and it can be moved forward towards the end of the lens or pushed back towards the body of my camera. Which would you suggest? In due time I'll get more proficient I hope but just need some general pointers to start me out. Thanks so much to all who respond. I'm very appreciative.

If it is the g2 lens, you have an exceptional lens. I think you are referring to the focus ring lock. When you set the lens to any vocal length push the ring toward the front of the lens, when the white line appears it is locked. Your camera will focus at that position. If you lock it at 600mms when you focus your camera it will remain at 600 mm. It might help to look up Steve Perry and Back button focus. My wife and I each own this lens. She has won many international awards and uses only back button focus. I use the lens for nature photography and find it tack sharp at all vocal lengths

Thanks so much Rick. It is a G2. I'll check out back button focus.

My wife and I also have the Tamron G2 and you can view the photos that we capture with them. Ours came with a tuning kit that you can sync your camera with the lens. We both sent our lenses back to Tamron with our cameras because we were unhappy with our images. Tamron was very accommodating and did a fantastic job of fine tuning the lens and camera. There are many youtube videos onhow to do it yourself but NOT ME! The lens is great but most of our captures are at almost 600 but we back the lens off a wee bit and that improves the image. We use the Vc2 for shots but we never use a tripod or a monopod. If you do then you shouldn't use the VC at all. There are usually some local camera shops that will CALIBRATE the lens to your camera...

You might get the Tamron TAP-in console and fine tune the AF. I have two Tamron lenses - the 45mm f/1.8 and 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 HLD. I haven't seen the need to get the TAP-in console as they are focusing accurately, It might be useful for fine tuning the AF of your 150-600mm. You could fine tune the lens for up to 24 regions.

Why not download and read the Tamron User's Manual AO22? Should help.
Good luck,
Don

I also have that lens, you have got good advise and info above. The only thing not addressed was the limiter switch. I use mine on full all the time, but all my shots with it are long distance. Use on full unless your shooting something closer.
My opinon of the Tamron 150-600 g2, I love it, it is a little heavy and sharper at 550-575 than at 600 but thats normal for most super telephoto lenses.
You might think about getting Tamrons Tap in console, allows you to fine tune the focus, adjust the limiter switch and download updates.
Its a great lens, enjoy.

From your posted image it appears you have a dent in your lens. Depending on the price you paid and depending on your overall interest in the lens, reselling it could be a problem. If it was me, I would return it unless the seller showed you that dent in their original post.

It could be a reflection. On the left of the picture, there looks to be some sort of crystal possibly creating a large reflection on the left side of the lens. The one on the right, might also be a reflection. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thank you so much. It is a reflection but I appreciate you drawing my attention to this.
