I have checked, search on this subject and all of the reply's are several years old. I currently us a H/P officejet printer which produce good prints but does not color match my monitor. I calibrate my monitor using "Spyder" approximately once a month. My output is typically from luninar or lightroom. I would like suggestions on which printer you would recommend. Thank you

The Canon Pro-100 will print on letter size sheets, and will also let you go up to 13x19 if you choose. It often goes on sale or has rebates.

A good photo printer needs more than the 4 CMYK inks found in office printers - the Pro 100 has 8 inks.

Canon Pro-100 Printer is excellent - OEM inks are not cheap! I print quite a lot of letter size - prints are very good & stable - one set has been in part day sun for a year.

Canon 100 is a great solution. Rather than print from the editing application, I've gotten considerably more consistent results with a dedicated printing app. I've been using Qimage for about 8-9 yrs. Excellent results, better than Photoshop, Lightroom DXO, On1 etc, and less hassle too.

Ditto on Gene's recommendation for Qimage. I've used it for as long as I can remember, and it does a wonderful job while simplifying the process. Added benefit - it's inexpensive.

Mike,

You may want to check the color management settings on your system to be sure the printer's ICC profile is active for your HP model. I have no recommendations for a dedicated photo printer as I print rarely. My Epson XP-640 does a decent job when called on but I would probably buy a Canon.

"Canon Pro-100 Printer is excellent."

I started with Epson years ago. but somehow found the Pro 100 and I've never looked back. Great printer, you'll never be sorry that you got one! I have another printer that I use for text so can't comment on that but for prints it's great, easy to use and love the color! Harry

I prefer epson printers for photos..I currently use the 1430. It uses 6 cartridges. It does a great job. My previous was an epson that I believe had 8 ink cartridges..it died & couldn’t be replaced. Even with only 6 cartridges, the 1430 prints better that any commercial prints. I only buy new inks from epson, I think that makes a difference in the quality. I have pictures I printed 10-15 years ago. And still have great color. I’ve tried canon & hp but for photos I only buy epson. I use a Mac. Apple at one time recommended epson.

Thanks for all the comments. I will check into Qimage software. Canon pro-100 sounds like a popular printer. As I recall canon has put this printer on sale in the past. They are not listing it on there wed site so they must not be selling it direct any more.

I'm not 100 percent sure but I believe I read back in December that a replacement for the pro 100 was getting ready to be released. It maybe out now. Check canons site.

Has anyone tried ordering replacement ink cartridges from inkjets.com? Replacements from canon are $125 and from Inkjets.com they are $38. They also let you order individual cartage's for $8 each.
