Blue Angels flyover 04/28/2020

A few days ago, the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds flew over NYC. A short while later, they flew over Trenton, NJ and Phila. I was standing on the banks of the Delaware across from Trenton. I thought the flight plan said they were going to fly straight down the river but they were farther away than I expected. This was the best I could do with my 400mm lens

Nicely done, MWojton. I am hoping they will fly over Houston and I hear about it in time to position myself to get some good shots. I have a 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6 so I expect my shots to be limited as you mentioned. Thinking of getting a 1.4 teleconverter to increase the reach a bit. Thanks again for showing these wonderful people.

I think you did very well under the circumstances. It is a great image?

Isn't it wonderful that the Blue Angels let the Air Force group fly with them? ;-}

Here is my shot of the flyover taken in Bethesda, Maryland, where they flew over local hospitals, NIH, and Walter Reed. Didn't come out quite as sharp as I hoped. They were quite far off. I used 1/2000 for shutter speed which I thought would be sufficient.

I like it! We are always too critical of ourselves :)

I also liked it. But you also said, "This was the best I could do with my 400mm lens". As photographers, we know what a really good shot should be like and strive for that from the moment we start considering a shot. And that's the difference, ultimately, between a snapshot and a photograph. And, again ultimately, that's why we come to UHH.
And why I'm my own worst critic of my shots. ;-} And that is what keeps me from posting a bunch of interesting shots 'cause, 'Naw, that's not good enough'.
Chuck
