Its predecessor, the SX40 HS, had a mere 35x 24-840mm lens, so the jump out to 1,200mm is substantial, but not without penalty. The aperture range for the SX40 was f2.7-f5.8, but it gets considerably slower for the SX50: f3.4-6.5. This is helped some by the 12-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor, but you'll likely need to use its high ISO settings, which now goes up to ISO 6400.

I want the extra zoom. I now have the SX40 and it is ok, but the 50x would be better for me.
I have a question on using the Raynox DCR 150 Macro on my SX40, On the SX40 I put the Raynox 150 on and can't get it to focus up close, what is my problem? Do I have to set other settings?

No, I don't want to since I might be trading or selling my SX40.
I see it now. People will be asking how they can put a 2x convertor on it. :)

I wonder if it is as good as the SX40 for Macro shooting? I like the 35x zoom on the SX40 but would like a little extra.
I'm trading as soon I can convince the wife. I really want the extra zoom and so far what I've read it's about the same as the SX40. When will it be in Stores or on line. Will it sell for $479?

I'd talk to Adorama, They seemed to do allright. I sent in a camera and they even paid for the shipping to them.
