Taken with my Hasselblad in my Film Days. Agfa Gaevert was my favorite film that I developed in Rodinal Developer.

I tried Rodinal once on Tri-X, the grain was horrible, then checking with an Older photographer I found that the developer had warmed up from the handling during agitation, bummer ( this is nicer than what I said) Threw the stuff out and continued with the developer I had been using.

I like it. The grain gives it that old-time look, which it is, apparently.

Frank, I used a temperature controlled tank which maintained the temperature through the 3 chemicals and into wash.

Unfortunately I never really kept track of my chemical, time or temperature. If I liked it I kept using it until it ran out then got some more or moved on to something else. Kind of embarrassing for guy who was supposed to be a scientist! Nice one here--I would have kept using the process because I like it.

I tried many films and developers until I found the combination I liked. When Agfa gave up their film business and Rodinal shut down, It was time to explore digital. But I have renewed interest in film again.

I once bought a 35mm 100 foot roll made in one of former Soviet block countries. It was practically from so I thought--"Why not?"l Finally started using it. Terrible! Tried different chems, times, temps etc, etc. But no matter it still had grain the size of "baseballs?" So I used it where I thought that would be interesting and not distractive. Some liked it, some hated it but when it was gone I tried to find some more!! No luck! Too bad.

It's sad what happened to film. Maybe we will have a resurgence? Wishful thinking.
