I have had one for three years and it is great. I used mine mainly for vacation photos in the National and state parks of the great south west. Loved it.

I switched from a Nikon D7100 to a Canon 80D some time back. Loved the 80D, ended up moving to a 90D as soon as it became available for the improvements.
Nothing bad to say about the 80D at all.
With the wrong camera, success is probably 99% luck. But with the right camera, it's 100% the photographer.
In December I upgraded from the Canon T3i to the Canon 6D Mark ii and I am thrilled with the full frame!! I also love that it has much more ISO range. Only drawback is that it does not have built in flash, but it is easy to add an auxillary flash. The full frame is pricier (i timed my purchase to holiday sales), but I figured that I would not be purchasing another camera for a long time. You may want to check it out before finalizing your decision on the 80. Happy shopping!
I upgraded from the T2i to 80D a while ago. I couldn't be happier it. It has many improvements that I found helpful.

I love my 80D and I found that it was a huge jump from my 70D, so you'll enter new world from the T3
I have used mine more than the 7DMII, before I got the R and the M50 which are my main cameras now. Used the 80 for all types of nature photography as well as macro of non-nature subjects. It is a fine camera.

I have not used it but my daughter upgraded to a 70D used and it was a huge step up for her and the 80D would be an even greater step up.
You will definitely see a difference.
Canon Refurbish has them on sale now.

I've had my 80D for coming up on 3 years and I do love it. I'm still discovering all it's capabilities. The only features I wish it had are auto eye focus (for street shots) and auto focus stacking (for macro). If I were in your position I might consider the Canon R series, perhaps an Rp. I love using my 70-200 L and 100-400 L lenses but I've captured some drop dead sharp images with the 18-135 kit lens.

That's a big upgrade from the t3 and you'll love it. I have the 80D for 3 years and I couldn't be happier. It is a little larger. The lenses you have for your t3 will fit the 80D since they are EF mount. If you're interested in a full frame camera, check out the 60Dmarkll. A slight upgrade from the 80D. But price wise, the 80D might be your best bet. Good luck.
