Just joined the group and have been browsing for the last hour. I learned that the entry dates are most important when questioning about a camera etc.. I like shooting video as well as shooting stills. I started with 8mm film and 35mm slides. I have had the Nikon D750 for a few years. I bought it because it is capable of shooting video and stills. BUT the video has never worked right for me and many others. When I first started using it, I had trouble with the focusing (manual only), then/now it won't video anymore (it locks up the camera after approx 10 sec), and I have to unplug & plug the battery to get the camera to respond to anything. I researched that some time ago, many were having the same problem WITH NO FIX AVAILABLE.
Now I am looking at a Prosumer Camcorder or upgrading my DSLR to the Nikon Z6. Approx $2,700 for the camcorder and approx $2,600 for the Z6 full package. So many pros and cons for each way. I'm not a pro.... I do like shooting Family gatherings, my Great Grandchildren, sports, flowers, birds, etc.. I am leaning towards the mirrorless Z6 because of the excellent video capability AND not having to carry 2 cameras when mixing video with stills- and I still have my existing Nikon lenses. I do like the 25x zoom lenses on the camcorders too. I also like the idea of offering my wife the 750 so she buys into spending all that money. LOL
Welcome to the forum. If you go with the mirrorless Z6, you will be quite pleased. I am still attached to my big, heavy Nikon, but I have a friend who is extremely happy he upgraded to the Nikon mirrorless. Go for it.
Thanks Horatio. I appreciate the real life experience input.
