During 2009 many large businesses closed in downtown Tempe. This was Border's Bookstore after they closed in Feb., 2009.

Nice shot, Bob. here are lots of bare stores in this area, with more coming, I’m sure.
Closed the Borders, seems to have had a positive effect
Sadly, I think that's going to be true for a lot of places. Thanks for taking a look and commenting.

A shot of the times!!
Hi, Floyd. Not really. We lost a great bookstore and a decent coffee shop. The building stayed empty for a considerable time.
Thanks for taking a look and commenting.

Your excellent shot of the past is liable to be a prediction for our future.
Mike, that was my thought when I was reviewing some of my older files and saw these. The initial reason was to change some of the processing steps. Then, when I saw this, and the others I photographed over the course of an evening, I immediately thought of what businesses are going through presently. I also wonder how many will face the same outcome.
Thanks for taking a look and leaving a comment.

Great story-telling image Bob - really captures the feeling. I used to go to many different bookstores, but unfortunately they are all gone with the exception of Barnes & Noble. Whenever I'm in the mall where they're located, I stop in to buy something (anything).
Bill, most of the bookstores are no longer here. Barnes and Noble have maintained a presence. Like yourself, I have a weakness for books.
That particular Border's was on my way home from a job I had. Fortunately, that job was within walking distance of my house. Unfortunately, a lot of my paychecks never made it past the cash register of that particular Border's. They also had a great coffee shop.
This is the first of a series of three. Please, stay tuned.
