Here comes my first post, so go easy on me, but feel free to make suggestions. Since I don't have access to professional models I force my poor wife to model for me.
I like working with lighting, but a flash for the camera is all I have, which sets limitations. The first picture was intended for my dog, and the wife is only a snapshot. The last two pictures were taken at her hair dresser.

Great first post. Welcome aboard. Images are good. Wife is attractive.
Wife is a real beauty, I like the lighting on # 2. Use soft lighting on her. Very good shooting !!Bounce your flash off a light wall or a white card, poster board works.
Welcome! Wife and dog both model quality. Shots are quite good. Suggestion would be to look at a book on portraiture to get some posing ideas, and whatever kinds of magazines that your wife finds interesting. Lots of thought (and $)went into many of those poses. I look forward to your continuing efforts!
I like them. Great first post. Now that wasn't so bad, was it?
Thank you, all, for commenting, not knowing what to expect everyone was easy on me. I don't have a studio with lighting set up, but only a camera and a flash. So the pictures are usually hand held snap shots. The wife is not a model, but a police dispatcher of a major city. Not easy to work with! :-)

A great start!!
You already have a Lovely model!!!,just make it fun for her.
For me I like all my images to be as sharp as possible then I can soften them in post processing.
Have fun!!!!
The second one is outstanding, I think.

You're on your way Reno......good beginnings and your models are lovely . Keep shooting sir and work with lighting and depth of fields to enhance your work. Good luck to you.
First welcome aboard. All are good shots. Like #2, 4 best. Love the look she is giving in #4. I would frame that and #2, both are very good. Thanks for sharing.
Your wife is a lovely woman. I especially like the mood and lighting in the second shot in the series.

The 2nd shot was great. Good use of light and shadow. Look at some YouTube videos for lighting and posing and like someone else said, keep it fun.
Excellent post man! Looking forward to more of your work(I have two rotties and have been married to the same wife for 52 years).
