Using this free photo organizing software? It seems easy to install and gives several ways to organize by date, album, favorites etc.

I'm getting tired of Windows Cloud bugging me to upgrade to a paid service because I've used the max of their free storage and have to back-up the overflow to an external HD.

TIA

I don't use organizing software.
I keep everything in subject\date directories.
Pretty much keeps it organized for me.

The price one has to pay for free stuff.

If, like Longshadow, you organize things in specific directories (which you can name by subject or date, or however you want to organize things), you can use Adobe Bridge. It's free and you can use keywords to search for things, even if they are in different directories.

Personally, I like Lightroom, but it's not free.

Having a background in computer programming I wrote my own years ago. This was way before digital. It's continued to work through digital as well.

The nice thing about it is that it is a graphic editor independent bit of software. As the web developed, I moved it to a web server and can now access it anywhere I can get to the web.

Why are you using the cloud to organize your stuff?
You can do that locally, right in your own computer. No cost.

The cloud has its place in archiving your stuff, but it's certainly not essential unless your stuff is really valuable.

Me too. I use Scott Kelby’s SLIM system with LR.

I don't use software, save my pictures my way. I save as taken by date (year, month, day 200424) and the final pictures I file by subject as we use to file papers in a filing cabinet (rural-farms-barns). It works for me and I also do it on 2 separate external hard drives.

I use PS Elements. It’s database Organizer lets me reassign a "date taken" to all of my scanned slides and prints from yesteryear. My folder with all of my mom's album prints displays in their chronological order.

I used to organize my slides by subject, and I carried that organization forward when I switched forward to digital - I just use the operating system’s ability to create a tree of folders

I wasn't using the pay service, just the free and they kept bugging me that I had maxed out. I don't use LR or Adobe so wanted something simple and ended downloading Photo Organizer yesterday...it looks like it will work just fine. Also, got tired of putting everything in folders and having to search and go through them to find what I needed.

Bob you have a great system and you're fortunate to have the talent to design that system...me, I can hardly type and use a keyboard!!

I’ve taken only so many photos in fifty years and I spend little time looking for something.

The best I've found for the organizing task is Lightroom. YMMV. Best of luck.
