Can you find a better job than this? Marking calves in the spring was a great part of the job. When it was time to reunite calf to mother, sometimes it just didn't work out the first time. The calves have a strong "follow" instinct and they were quite happy to follow me while I devised a new plan to reunite. Sometimes load them on an ATV and go find mama in the herd, work in close and set the youngster in the right direction. Their sound is a mixture of cow and pig, as cute as it gets. This calf is just a day or two old but can run and keep up with mom for short distances. Note the light gold color, it begins to turn to a light brown, then darker brown.
Your story and the photos, so heart-warming. Thank you for sharing.
I wouldn't mind a job like that, good photo's and explanation.
So satisfying to work with young animals. What a great job!
