estate camera. Nikon D 3000. This body is almost new by shutter count (210) , but is having trouble with a few things. I thought it best to begin with a firmware update. Searched the Nikon site and past UHH posts but can't find the right place for the firmware update or did Nikon just abandon this model after so many years.?

There is no firmware update available for the 3000. In fact there is no listing on Nikon's site for current firmware version. You've likely already been to this web page, but if not...here it is.

Google is always your friend: nikon firmware d3000

There are manual downloads and the viewing and downloading software updates, but nothing for firmware.

That's what I was afraid of. Shame. Camera has 210 clicks and looks new, but trouble with auto focus and metering. Thought best to begin with firmware. Now on to cleaning contacts and other trouble shooting.

There's no option for a firmware update to support an AF-P lens for this camera. A fully compatible DX AF-S G lens would be the best bet for confirmation testing.

Thank you. I have G lenses - 2 that came with the camera ( both a little soft) and several I have for my D5300 plus other AF-s lenses for my FF bodies. Pity that Nikon abandoned this poor little old 10.2 mp 2009 camera. Boo Hoo

It's most likely that the settings need to be tweaked. Have you checked which metering mode it's in? Also, Nikon sets the default sharpening for the Picture Controls very low at level 3. Nikon expert, Ken Rockwell, recommends to go through all of the Picture Controls and increasing the sharpening to level 6.
