Been some activity here about Luminar 4 and other programs. I went to ebay and found Luminar 4 for $5.50. What is the deal when it is on sale for $74? Is this a scam or what? Sorry for my ignorance, but I just don't understand this. The offers seem to come from offshore.

Probably Scam, but you are able to contact Skylum and ask them.

Make sure you get a valid activation number or you really might end up with a $5.50 free trial good for a week or 30 days....

Many applications now activate over the internet based on your email address and a valid activation code...getting a copy of software is easy, getting it activated legally might be difficult. Be sure. Put the question to the seller about a valid activation code.

If it sounds too good to be true....then IT IS too good to be true.

Luminar allow multiple activations with a single license. These activations are intended to allow their customers to run on a second computer they own, they are not intended to be sold as separate installs.

Keyed off the customers email address, so most likely using your email address with a already used code from another’s license probably will not jive

Software pirating is a bad deal all around, better in the long run to buy it properly and not try to cheap out by buying a questionable license that gives you headaches

There are hacked versions of every application that is not free. Do the ethical thing and buy it from the source in this case Luminar 4 comes from Skylum. I happen to use this product and think i got my money's worth buying it legitimately.

Be careful. Read all the specs and condition issues with the camera (usually in the lower section of the ad) and examine it closely if possible using the photos provided. You can message the seller with any questions you may have and always use Pay Pal to protect your credit card and to handle any dispute you may have with the seller. Many items are sold for parts only because they don't preform fully or have been damaged so do your homework first.
Good luck.

When either buy something or sell something on eBay the watch words are "Buyer Beware" The website is rife with scammers. I know from personal experience.

Some of the photographers who review the product have a discount code, so that would save you 10 bucks.I think Anthony Morganti is one.

I saw it advertised on ebay for £.50 GBP - seemed a bit dodgy but for that price I thought what the hell and went for it. It was a download and was delivered super fast - worked fine with no problems. I then seen that Luminar had released an update but did not want to take a chance with it not being a bona fide copy. I contacted the ebay seller and they confirmed that it could not be updated. I was able to try it out without the update and was pleased with the results I have now purchased the legit version and am pleased with it.

I run L4 on several computers and never paid more than the initial purchase price of about $75.
