Really? It will do all of that?

NOPE! I believe he thinks Our Lord use's a Canon.

You're a bit overly dramatic about that, aren't you? Canon(or any camera manufacturer) could announce an invisible camera, and I will still think about life the same way as I have for 70 years..

I think he was about to bite his young in cheek.

If you ignore the economy in favor of hopefully staying virus free, you probably will have much bigger problems to deal with. Canon is just doing their part in stimulating our economy as best they can with new and exciting products when everyone is running around saying the sky is falling. I applaud them and any business that keeps focused on what they do best.
Whatever the announcement, you can bet it's been in development since LONG before the current pandemic was dreamed of. And they're not bringing this out now just to perk up everyone; whatever it is has reached the point in development that it is ready for production.
I think the point was being made that when people are dying in droves around the world, an announcement of a new product from a company is somewhat underwhelming.

Like I stated, you ignore the economy and shut everything down, you end up creating other health issues. Domestic violence, higher rates of drug and alcohol abuse, theft, burglaries, riots. Keeping people employed can be done responsibly without causing more cases of the above.

Canon is doing their part to stimulate Canon. It just a camera. Right now more-important things-to take care-of.

A little sunshine amongst the storm clouds doesn't hurt anything, right?

Well, that is true. A camera would not qualify. I would hope it would be something important.

On the other hand, Alberio, if I ignore my health even a little bit in favor of helping the economy, I will definitely have much bigger problems to deal with. Like if I'm dead I doubt that I'll be able to help the economy again.
If over a million people infected in just a few months and over 60,000 dead isn't a pretty good example of "the sky is falling," what exactly would you consider to be good example of the sky falling? If you're fine with the present situation, then please feel free to walk around in large crowds, such as a beach or a protest against stay at home orders or a church service, and let us know how that turns out.
I don't mind Canon advertising and announcing new products, and I own Canon products, but at this time, a product announcement is far less interesting than knowing that they've contributed a large sum to the discovery of a vaccine or a cure, don't you think?

I’m sorry. Somehow i missed that bit of news. Did Canon really contribute a sizable chunk of money for coronavirus research?

I'm pretty sure we don't know the true numbers as hospitals have actually started calling deaths COVID-19 caused when the patients had many underlying factors and were likely to die from any of those. Why, because of the money paid from the Corona Virus fund. I also believe nobody really knows how many people have had the virus and survived and were never tested. Until we have herd immunity, this economy will produce many more deaths due to drugs, alcoholism, abuse and other social ills. You are not required to mingle unprotected, so stay sheltered in place if that works for you. Again thumbs up to the people who are doing their part to keep this economy running as safely as possible.
No, rcarol, I didn't say Canon contributed anything to help with the pandemic. I simply said it would be more interesting and important news if they had done that rather than announce a new product--whatever that product is. Since I don't follow these product launches closely, I do not even know now what product they announced.
Thanks for the clarification.
