I've ordered multiple items from Wish.com and have no complaints other than it takes a while for things to arrive. On the other hand, I've never ordered anything that cost most than $10.00 with shipping - usb cables, some plastic battery holders, cold shoe with tripod screw mount, etc. The items are Chinese but I have regrets.

It's no mystery! It is a circular cluster of light-emitting-diodes (LED"S), not an electronic flash. The shoe mound unit is simply a battery compartment that acts as the power supply. I suspect the is no integration with the camera's TTL system as it would apply to a dedicated flash unit.

I don't think is completely useless but would be inferior to a flash-based unit in terms of power output, motion stopping ability, and compatible color temperature with daylight if it is needed as a flash fill source.

The delivery time indicates that is is a drop shipping to be sent directly from the manufacturer, probably in China.

It's not a significant investment! You can spend 40 bucks at a fast-food restaurant and this unit may provide some utility. The seller shows an upgraded model that specifies a color temperature- it's about $20. more.

Theses units will not provide the same performance as more costly electronic flash ring-lights that have more usable light volume, dedicated precise exposure control or like some models, have multiple flash tubes that can be switched on and of in various configurations to provide more modeling when required. Coaxial light is intrinsically flat but that can be advantageous for specific applications.

The level of usefulness of the unit in question will depend on what you are going to shoot with it and your expectations of performance. If you are shooting static subjects- postage stamps, small printed circuit boards, botanical subjects where the is no wind, etc., the motion freezing aspect will be a non-issue.

Exactly.... I got one of those LED Ring lights... It now sits, collecting dust. It isn't able to stop the motion of my subjects as it's "flash" duration is only about 1/200th of a sec.

Ring lights, by their very nature, are not really meant to be used in the same way a normal speed light would be used and a speed light would be best for stop action lighting. A ring flash is generally used as a portrait light to flatter the subject, from a lighting perspective, but not as a stop action lighting source. Anything for stop action should never be in the ring light family.

You have regrets, or did you mean to say you have NO regrets?

I have ordered from Wish and have always received the items as described but takes forever to get here - up to 4 months in one case. ALWAYS way over the the promised delivery date. I have also looked at some of the electronics and found that often they are very cheap imitations of other products. The MP3 players and headphones especially low quality.

As some have identified previously, a good amount of brand names (like Andoer) sold via Wish can be found on Amazon for pretty much the same price with assured delivery dates. Tracking of packages is nearly impossible through China Post and customs will often hold for inspection. Not to mention its coming out of China and you have no idea what infections ride along ...
I have ordered from Wish and have always received ... (show quote)

If its taking weeks to get to you, you have no worries about any infections riding on them since any viruses would be long dead.

Ring flashes are for macro as they have a limited light distance. You are thinking of beauty dishes, which are basically oversized ring lights that don't mount on a camera but on a stand instead. Some ring flashes can be used in portraiture but only at close range with a wider angle lens which skews perspectives....I have a number of older, film era, ring/point flash units made by the Lester Dine corp (who invented them in 1952) that I use for my macro shooting...

When I say "ring flashes", I'm referring to the ones that mount on the front of a lens...

Yep! What Screamin Scott said. Invented to shoot intra-oral photos. Axial lighting for getting photos inside mouth. Still in business!

I just ordered from www.wish.com a 48 led ring light from andoer. It will take a month to get it, just wondering if anybody else has ordered from wish.

i have ordered many things from Wish. Sometimes real junk! Sometimes not bad. If something doesnt work (about 15% of time), they are generally good about prompt refunds. some items are outstanding quality. some absolute junk. price is almost always right though. Better than right.

I have several friends in China. They never heard of Wish. After one of them did some research, he said it is a business meant for outside of China. They do no business in China.

Lots of times the free stuff is really free except for shipping. Often the shipping dates are better than what's promised. They have some really WEIRD things for sale that will leave you scratching your head.

Good luck. Report back when you get your ring-flash. I'd be interested.

No regrets - pardon the error. Never heard of wish til they started sponsoring the Lakers. Interesting place for printed photo backdrops, camera straps, and assorted small items. Light stands, kits, flashes are probably available on eBay quicker with only a small price premium. But again, no regrets

I got a cheap ring LED for $8. It has a tripod mount and variable color temperature, and runs on USB power. Big enough to go around my largest lens and works great.
