estate sale lens. This is not an expensive lens, but that's no reason not to care for it.
There is a spot on the lens that looks like a small splatter. I tried Nikon lens cleaners and it did not even touch the marks. I tried a slightly soaped, damp ,micro fiber cloth (very light touch) and it did not budge. I don't know how aggressive a solution I could try without damaging the lens coating. UHH's who've been here before please help.

If nothing removed it/minimized it, I'd suspect something got on the lens that buggered the coating.
Does it show up in pictures as an abberation?

Try taking it to a store and see if they can clean it. Look up camera repair shops in pittsburg.

One spot might not impact the image very much or at all, since the light from one point in the world is entering everywhere on the lens surface, not just that one spot. Take some shots and see. Could be just a little correction in your editor will clean it up.

Just came home today. Have to begin looking at photos tomorrow to see if it affects the pictures.
Thank you,

If you are working it that hard and getting no improvement, it is probably coating damage. Review your images and see if it shows up.

Simple Green, let it set for a couple of minutes, if this does not work, try the following. Works every time for me.

That spot probably doesn't matter.

Sounds like it is the coating that is damaged some way.

Do this and avoid ruining the lens. In my experience, and I have many old lenses, only a LARGE OPAQUE spot will impact the image to a noticeable degree. If a drop in contrast (the typical impact) occurs just fix it in PP and have fun with your find.

Shoot into a light, like a landscape with the sun in it - if there is going to be a problem, you will see it as flare. You can decide whether or not it is significant enough for you to be concerned about it.

It may focus out. Look at a photo taken with it.
Otherwise have a professional deal with it.
But know that aggressive cleaning, even by a professional, could create a larger area of damaged lens coating.
