I watched an episode of Twilight Zone the other night and at the end of the show, Rod recited these lines to summarize the theme of that particular episode. With all of this vitriol going back and forth and finger pointing and self-righteousness, I thought it is appropriate to share his comments.
"The tools of conquest do not necessarily come
with bombs and explosions and fallout.
There are weapons that are simply
thoughts, attitudes, and prejudices
to be found only in the minds of men.
For the record, prejudices can kill
and suspicions can destroy and
a thoughtless frightened search
for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own,
for the children and the children yet unborn and
the pity of it is that these things
cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone."

and
the pity of it is that these things
cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone."

I think I saw this episode - half burned book that had contained a cure for cancer

That said it all. With what going on today with the COVID 19 that is very true.
He had a great voice, so dead serious, can't picture him having a laugh, it would ruin his persona...
Sounds like "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street."
Welcome to the human race.
Did you ever wonder why all the aliens in those sci-fi movies want to destroy the human race? They know what we're like.
Rod Serling and Jack Webb....ultimate comedy team? LOL

Rod Serling was truly a Genius.
How many of our younger generation even know who he was? Not many, I would wager.

I didn't catch the name of the episode because I came in a couple of minutes late. But it was the one where folks accused their neighbor of being an alien because he took walks late at night looking up at the stars. Then the accusations jumped to another neighbor who tried to defend him and so on.
I am sure we will have some feedback

No offense Jerry but we are told that over and over again. The reality of it all is that while there are some bad people out there (in 30 years of law enforcement and corrections I often thought I had met the worst of mankind only to meet someone worse a few days later on) the great majority of people across the globe are wonderful, helpful and kind people who would give the shirt off their back.
The problem in all of this is we generally speaking only hear the stories of the bad people while hearing very little of good people.
So my friend I completely disagree with your statement of monsters knowing what we are like. While we have wars we also have hundreds of thousands of people fighting the evil minds that created those wars. When we have famines or any type of natural disaster there are people from all over the world rushing to those areas to search for bodies, take care of the injured, feed and cloth those affected and so on. Whatever it takes is generally done by volunteers who risk their lives to help others.

Dennis: My friend, it makes ME feel good to read your rather well thought-out comments. Reading something positive about people is refreshing. Thank you.
