Can Photo Files (not images) be emailed from LR6?

I use LR6 (stand alone) with Outlook 2007. At one time I was able to email photo files, not images through Outlook 2007. Somehow I lost that capability. Now when I want to email a photo file, it will only email an image of the file which is embedded in the e-mail. Does anyone have a solution? Thanks in advance. Tom Fama

Not sure what you mean by "photo files, not images"
Raw files?

At one time I could e-mail a file like airplane.jpg. Now what is e-mailed is the image (photo) of the file (airplane).

Methinks you are simply looking at a different way in which the email program handles the attachment. A JPEG file is, by definition, an image file.

On some email programs, the attachment just appears as a little icon or box witha filename. On other programs (notably on Macs) attachments are actually rendered - JPEG, PDF, etc.

Makes zero difference.

A photo "file" and "image" are different terms for the same thing. I'm not sure I understand your question.

Like everyone else, I don't follow your question. For your 'pictures' there is one file. Thats it. Call it a photo file or an image, it is the same thing. It's just a file that creates an image when you open it. I don't email from Lightroom. I have Lightroom create a jpeg of email size and put it on my desktop. Then I drag it into my email. I have presets for this. takes about one second. I'd be interested to hear a clarification about this file/photo thing and why you might think they are different.

Let me try to be clearer. Currently when I email from lightroom what appears in the email is a picture. Before when I emailed, files would be attached (like airplane.jpg) was sent. The would be no picture displayed, only the file name as an attachment that the receiver could click on to open the picture.

Tom, Are you talking about adding it to an email attachment or inserting the JPG image as part of the email?

In your email program you can have your file display either way. If it shows up as a picture, in my email I can tell it to "show as Icon..

Overtime, Microsoft and Adobe have each changed their security protocols on how the authority to launch the email application in an industry-wide initiative to shut down on spamming. Given Adobe stopped supporting / updating LR6 in December 2017, there's no way to get any help from them. Microsoft is going to tell you much the same thing: upgrade.

Your wording is a bit unclear. I understand you're saying the image file is embedded into the email rather than sent as a file attachment. I have LR6 but Outlook 365. When I select the LR email default 'small', the file is sent as an attachment rather than embedded. If you want an attachment, you may need to export a JPG to a folder location and then author your email in Outlook. Just drag the JPG from the folder onto the email and it should be attached as a file attachment.

I don't know what computer you are using or what email program you are using. On a Mac, if you attach a jpg file, it will generally show up in the email. However, there is also a paper clip icon. If you click on the paper click you can download the jpg attachment. On a Mac, the jpg attachment is also rendered as a photo in the email.

I don't know is Microsoft does the same think.

If I am understanding your question, the answer is yes...you can.
On my Mac there is an option to “view image as icon”. I do this auto atically, but I think you control/click and a dropdown menu appears giving several options, one being “view as icon.”

I’ve seen this result before. To email the file you have to use the "Insert" function. It inserts the JPEG file as an attachment in the email. Otherwise you just get a thumbnail view of the image that cannot be saved separate from the email.

I fine it easier to export to a "photos to share" file then attach to my gmail account. clicking the gmail paperclip icon takes me right to the file I exported to and openng that file opens in in gmail. Don't know how other emails work but that is the easiest for me in gmail

I do they too. My folder is Photos to Email. Gmail doesn’t like emailing directly from an app.
