Just to give you a chuckle today. . . .
I thought I'd show you some of my (really bad) attempts at bird photography. I am not a birder. Usually I can't even SEE the birds, let alone get them in my frame! So, if you're a birder, I salute you. I know how really hard this is. If you're not a birder, you can get a chuckle from my attempts and maybe enjoy doing your own. As always, comments are welcome.
I went prepared. I had a camera that shoots 14 FPS. I had a 28-135 and a 70-350. Good stuff, right? It's cardinal season and I had seen hummers a couple of weeks before.
So let's see how I did.
A flash of red told me there was a cardinal in this tree. See him?

Yep. There he is. And he stayed right there for a LONG time. Finally I had to move on. He wasn't going to give me more.

Occasionally, I get one. If they decide to hang out right over my head and wait for me to get my camera focused on them!

OK. On to the hummers. I took about a hundred of these!

Oh, wow! Two of them!

And then there were three. I was sure I had a winner here.

Between being a bit slow on the uptake, having shaky hands (even when trying to use a tripod), this is a lost cause. I give up.

Ah, finally! Something I CAN do! These saguaro move VERY slowly! I can do this. I'm giving up on birds. Bring on the cactus.

Some nice pics. I couldn't find him in the first photo for nuttin.
I don’t see anything wrong with your shots of the birds. I’ll just take your word that the Cardinal is in the tree.

LOL! Yes, I see the cardinal in the first shot -- dead center. You did get a good cardinal shot finally! And those saguaro must move pretty fast -- all I see in the bottom photo are mounds looking like a hay field that was tossed by a tornado some tall pines, and some telephone polls.

Thanks. The only reason I could was because I saw him fly in there! But I really had to hunt.

He stayed hidden behind the branches. Actually the second image is him in the tree in the first image. Just zoomed in a bit and cropped A LOT! Thanks. Hope it gave you a chuckle.

Well, I guess it could look like that on a windy day! The actual good shot was on a different day. And he literally waited for me forever! Thanks.

Looked again at the first image. Don’t know how I missed him. Oh, well.
Delightful series, Kathy!

They are easy to miss if the tree is very thick. You have to be able to catch a glimpse of that bright red. Glad you found it.

I love photographing birds and particularly hummingbirds. But I agree they are challenging. My saying is, "Birds and Kids are both really hard to photograph." I like doing photos of kids playing, opening presents, etc., rather than portraits. It's really hard which way they will move, what light they will be in, etc. It's all still fun though.
Also appreciated your set.

I forgot to say I really like your last photo.
