Pentax tends to be a limited market. Major camera brands appear to be more of a target for Tamron that depend on high sales to make up for inferior materials used in their lenses.

Tends to be? In the whole scheme of things Pentax IS a small segment of the overall camera market. Around 3% of the total, last time I checked last year.
As a life long Pentaxian (film cameras), two years ago when I decided to buy my first digital camera, I went with Nikon due to the poor showing by Ricoh/Pentax with their lenses, and/or third party lens manufactures offerings for the Pentax mount. To this day Pentax has not released the 85mm lens I wanted to buy with my first digital system. Basically, they seldom release anything.
And before anybody says anything...yes there's plenty of lenses (old) for the Pentax mount, and I have plenty of then, but I wanted a digital system that offered plenty of full frame modern lenses and bodies. Pentax so far has only one FF body offering, and their FF lens offering is limited. Third party manufacturers offerings for the Pentax mound it is indeed a pittance in comparison to their offerings for Canikon. Moreover, try to find a Pentax, locally at any of the big box stores, they don't even know what Pentax is.
