Did you want to make a slide show (each images shows for several seconds) or a time lapse (a long event viewed in a short time)?

I've done this often. If the video is old VHS, then the picture quality is much less than one captured from a modern-day 4K digital clip. Take care & ...

Most likely just a quality issue. If the video is high resolution there should be no problem at all.

Sony camcorders take occasional still shots. I think you can turn that feature on and off, but I never bothered. They are actual still photos. To get one still from a video, I would show it on my computer and then pause and press Prt Sc (print screen). Below is a still from YouTube video - unprocessed. Not bad.

I've made a number of photos from video. A high resolution video will produce a
decent looking photo. Anything less than high resolution and the quality will be greatly
diminished.

I do this quite often. I found that no matter how good the quality of the video is, capturing a frame from it is never as sharp and therefore needs some Photoshoping.

I 've been searching for a way to clean up some old (1960s) videos and sharpen them like they do with old movies on tv. I don't thing that PremierePro is that good though.

I'm still trying to figure out how they colorize these old movies.

We might as well shut this site down because just about everything that is asked, can be searched out online. Are we not a discussion group?

Anything can be looked up on line so why bother having anything? Let's just shut everything down.

A discussion is what is taking place here. Maybe you should look for another site where you can "discuss" without being inconvenienced.

Stash, are you responding to me??? THAT is exactly what I am saying in response to anyone who recommends that the answer to any particular question should just be "Googled."

Some of the newer cameras can pull very nice stills from their video. Frame rate in video is like shutter speed and then 4k or greater gets you the higher resolution.
