Dribs and dabs of info don't give a 'full picture'. Maybe no one actually knows! A doctor tells of someone who has recovered from C***d, but tests positive up to a month after recovery. Another story is about people who recover and don't have any immunity from another case, or have 'limited' immunity for maybe 6 months!

Perhaps it is because all of us are experiencing this for the first of many times!

Here is a link to a story in Wired Magazine about what we may have learned from China, S. Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, etc. about letting their 'guard' down too soon.

https://www.wired.com/story/what-if-c****-**-returns-every-year-like-the-common-cold/#intcid=recommendations_default-popular_4923325a-8854-4991-8225-6804b909241d_popular4-1

We all need to know more about what we might have to expect in our collective futures.

I’m afraid the answer is a long effing time. We have lots to learn about this v***s, and it will unfortunately change the way we live in a similar way as 9/11. I wish I could see a quick fix and return to normalcy, but I don’t.

No mere mortal knows the answer to that, but I have a feeling there will be no end to this as long as there are any people left to spread it. This is the "new normal."

A v*****e that protects 100% of the time would be a big help, but we will have to see what does happen.

A v*****e is likely, sooner or later, and should help to promote some return to normal. P****r says they will have it by September, Johnson and Johnson a slightly slower timeline, and realistically the latest is in around a year from now. No telling how long wide distribution will take. That said, therapeutics from plasma with antibodies appear to be on the way though not yet closely in sight. The amount we don't know about this thing is stupendous. The timelines I hear for my own area (Baltimore and Maryland) for peaking are wildly variable: anything from 2 days from now to mid May. I think that we are about to see profound changes in our society and economy and the world as we know it will be substantially changed even if we have a v*****e that works a substantial amount of the time.

Apparently they expect to use First Responders as a "large scale test" this fall, which could "k**l two birds with one stone" if everything works out.

That would be nice. I work in an ER and would be willing to be tested at the end of every shift rather than take this thing home.

I never know what to say when people say that, but you're welcome. As a psychiatric counselor, I would not have imagined a need for my services under these circumstances, but there it is. A p******c is something which has been a possibility for a long time but, even so, we really could not have imagined the reality. Fortunately, Maryland doesn't appear to be on the same trajectory as New York City, but we are still on the way up, so we'll see.

Quote from Wired report: "Factoring in what’s known about C****-**’s rate of spread and severity, they found social distancing interventions, if timed well, would likely need to extend into 2022 to get the new v***s under control."
I don't trust the Chinese. What we may be witnessing is the beginning of biological warfare in the modern era. There is some evidence that this v***s didn't start in the wet markets but the W***n bio lab right down the street from the market.
A v***s of any kind is hard to defeat. V*****es help to establish some immunity but wear off over time. Each new v***s needs a new v*****e and v*****es take about 12-18 months to develop. Up till now, the world has only experienced mild v***ses like the common cold. These new v***ses like SARS, swine flu, and some of the others we have seen over the past 10 years are quite deadly. Most countries are not prepared to fight this kind of v***s. This may be the wakeup call that gets the medical community to work harder.

Until v*****e for c****a will be not invented, we have to remain in lock down situation. It may takes 6 month or even 1 year. Who knows except God.

It is over when it over. The v***s will said when it over, not a president.

The theory that this is a bio weapon came from Danny Shoham and has spread widely but is discredited:

https://foreignpolicy.com/2020/01/29/c****av***s-china-lab-mortality-v******y-w***n-v***s-not-bioweapon/

I would not trust the Chinese (or a number of other governments) to provide accurate and timely data, but beginning a biological war seems to be pushing the envelope pretty far. There has also been some fairly good research indicating that the v***s jumped from bats to pigs, civets, and pangolins prior to making the jump to humans. I agree that v*****es take a long time to develop, though this one may be faster than usual as the technology has improved.

It is a horrifying disease. Most of the horror comes from knowing so little about it. I think it will eventually be the new norm. It is all our hope that a v*****e could and will be developed. I take the Flu v*****e every year and what’s one more needle stuck in my arm each year?
Did you see the numbers on that Smithfield meat-packing plant out in Sioux Falls? That’s just the beginning. We have lots of meat packing plants and other food processors. Just 1 employee can end up shutting down a whole plant. I have friends who work in management with those types of Industry. They are worried. I am, too. A few plants close and it is a big problem for us all. Let us all stay 6 feet away for a while. Be safe, my friends.

Until all Americans stand up and join the citizens of Michigan and say enough is enough.
90% of the country is minimally affected if at all.
Especially the mid-west and rocky mountain west have huge areas that already practice social distancing every day anyway.
