I found a nesting cavity of a pair of Red Bellied Woodpeckers. they now have babies and change position every 20 minutes or so. You can tell the difference by the amount of red on the male. I hope to see some little heads sticking out soon.

Nice set. I had a pair in a tree in our backyard for several years. I really loved watching them come and go.

Great shots! Nice action captures! We have a pair of Red Bellies working on a Maple that lost it's top to Hurricane Mathew...they have been working their way down in from a hole near the top, hammering away all day long, right up to darkness....they are about 40 ft. from our feeders and bird bath, and about 30' from our back door.

My wife and I are anxiously awaiting baby Red Bellies, it will be the closest nest in our yard, and easiest to photograph for over 4 decades. We were going to drop the tree prior to this coming hurricane season, but it will have to wait now (no real danger to anything or anyone) it just doesn't look like the beauty it once was (and thankfully, the rest of it fell away from our home). To get any decent angle I have to go on the roof of the house, but will be working them a lot as things proceed. Thanks for sharing, and keep up the good work!!
