4 shot sequence as it flew over my yard
Came home yesterday and had an eagle sitting on a tree next to our chicken run waiting for dinner to leave their chicken coop. As I watched the eagle along came a flight of seven turkey vultures circling our chicken area and me. They flew as low as twenty feet off my head. I stayed out there but backed up against our house to protect my back from a strike from behind. Yes, they did scare me. Eventually they left, including the eagle, and we decided not to let any of our birds out for the day. Haven't decided on today if our birds will get out for a walk yet.
How far away was the one you shot?

I was sitting on my porch when I saw his shadow on the ground. I looked up and saw him and raised my camera to get the pictures. He was close enough that he practically filled the frame. Maybe 30 feet?

They, IMHO, are god awful UGLY creatures up close.
They are scavengers looking for road kill and left carcussas from a previous kill.
Essentially they are natures "garbage men".
