"When somebody is president of the United States, your authority is total," he said.

Really............ In his demented mind only!

Can't wait to hear from the conservatives who have always supported local control and "state's rights" instead of strong federal leadership. Forget local control. Forget constutional balance of power between legislative, judicial and executive powers. We now have a dictator!

Also, Pence backed him up! We've got two leaders who don't understand the constitution.

Let's see the conservatives put on their "spin-it" shoes now.

Trump was talking about the stay at home order to be in context...

TRUMP: But the authority of the president of the United States having to do with the subject we're talking about is total.

Now to the question if Trump is correct, I don't think so. Why the change of position from you Lefties, not long ago you Lefties were complaining that Trump was not ordering a National stay at home order....wow...what happened with that???? LOL Total hypocrites you nuts are.

Your statement should be "if" not "of", and "know", not "knew". I just hope this lesson helps you improve your understanding of our language.

Now, to your statement. There are three branches of government. Each provides checks and balances for the others. Trump, as president, heads the EXECUTIVE BRANCH. Now, everybody say EXECUTIVE BRANCH together...

I don't need a lesson from a nut like you, "of" was obviously a typo, but no, the correct word is "knew" not "know". Again, "as IF you knew anything about the U.S. Constitution.

No chit that there are 3 branches of Government, that has nothing to do with what Trump was talking about you illiterate.

Since you are illiterate, I will repeat (copy and paste) for you.

Again, please don't get upset. You seem to be overly sensitive to constructive criticism, calling me a nut.
Wow, really?? Next I'm sure the lol guy will chime in.

I'm only trying to help you. It appears you do need a grammar lesson.

Using knew in a sentence.

When to use knew: Knew is the simple past tense form of the verb know. It means to be certain about information or to be acquainted with a person or thing. For example: I knew him as a child.

So, "as if I KNOW anything about the constitution... " We are discussing what I currently know; now, today, this instant, not in the past. I hope this helps.

Watch the video, unless you are still rolling on the floor (bit overly reactive to a video of our "leader" at a press conference having a tizzy fit aren't you?). You can ignore the commentary, just like I ignore faux entertainment commentary). He said what he said, no matter the source. Thank you constitutional framers for freedom of the press. Notice at the end where he calls on another reporter to try and get some time to extract his foot out of his mouth. He doesn't want to answer constitutional questions, he likely hasn't read it!
