Since buying the Nikkor 10-24mm zoom, that's about all I use ...mostly at 10mm. It works great for the way I like to shoot.

I got the Nikkor 10-24. I rented the 8-16 and found the range of that lens was hard to get a good shot out of it. Seemed like I could have just put my 10.5 on and shot every thing with it. I do shoot above 12 on most of my shots with the 10-24. The other reason I got the Nikkor, I think it has way better glass.

I'd rather go with the NIkon optical masterpiece, the Nikon
14-24 f2.8 G AFS ED IF nano crystal coated lens.

I'd take a look at the Tokina 11-16 f2.8 for about $600.
Fast, sharp and built like a tank in Japan. I shot this with my Tokina and Nikon D300s ISO 2000, F8, 1/20 sec handheld.

I have the Nikkor 10-24 and it is my favorite lens. Sometimes I leave all my other toys behind and only take it. This forces me to be more creative in subject, lighting and composition. This does not mean to imply any faults with the lens, it just opens up so many possibilities.

Wow, that 10-24 is a real commitment to Dx format. Quite a dilemma.

I'm sure it's a terrific lens. Costs 2 grand, and if someone does move to full frame, he or she will have to buy Fx lenses for it. Another 2 G's for a 14-24, or $1200 for a 16-30. That's what I meant about it being a commitment, because the Dx lens won't move with them.

I believe that you can use a Nikon DX lens on a Nikon FF body, you just won't be using the entire full frame sensor when you do so. All your using is the center of the sensor when you use a DX lens. I thought I read/saw somewhere that the 36MP D800 becomes a 24MP camera with a DX lens installed on it.
