A small unusual problem: When I start my computer every morning it opens as usual. But...none of the video works on any of the news sites and, when trying YouTube it doesn't work. I get the same message: error occurred please try again later. If, and I do, restart the computer everything works just as it should. I am using a Dell Inspiron All-in-One 16 ram. Anyone know why this would be? This has been happening for several days. Once it works, it works all do. Turn it off and then back on works fine. Just that first thing in the morning. Not devastating. Thanks.

All this started about 2 weeks ago

That is indeed a most unusual photography problem.

Computer OS?
Browser used?
Does it do the same thing with another browser?
Did the computer connect to the internet before you tried to go someplace?

Lotsa variables...

I have a hunch that your provider, the internet or servers are suffering from Covid-19 overload. A geek news headline a week ago reported that YouTube had to drop their default resolution to ease the throughput.

Possibly an Internet connection issue which could be browser or WiFi related. Next time it happens, (a) try a different browser, and (b) check the internet connection by looking at the performance monitor (ctrl alt Del) and the network icon in the tray on the bottom right of the screen. Does it show connected? If so, go to Ookla (or the speed test of your choice) and check the access speed. If the WIFI is working and connection to the internet is good, then that points to the browser. Btw, on Dell laptops, it’s easy to turn off the WIFI receiver, hence my suggestion to make sure it’s enabled - usually a function key.

Btw, this really belongs in the chit chat section...

Exactly the same thing has been happening to me on my iMac irritating but not tragic. Could it be the slowing down of the Internet worldwide because of the increased activity caused by Corona 19 ???

All of the prominent providers in my area have removed data limits from their services during this time. We have even noticed our cable service (which comes in through the same modem as our voice phone and internet) has frozen a few times as buffering is required. This was done primarily to support all the kids who are home from school and doing all of their learning via internet connections. Another impact is that UHH or sometimes other sites return a message that they are unreachable or that the request has timed out.

On the plus side, we have noticed that we now have access to several additional movie channels that haven't been accessible in the past.

Just take a deep breath and go with the flow for a few months.

I get that message sometimes, and find that if I click on the play icon again, it will play the video.

Q: When you "start my computer every morning" do you wake it from sleep or turn power on?

Ok so what you are saying is you have to turn power on, then restart, for things to work properly?

That implies that there are some things not loading from the cold boot but they then get loaded load from the soft re-boot (restart).

Q: You turning power off at night, why not just leave it turned on and let it sleep?

About 20 years ago I did an experiment at work. My friend and I both got new identical new computers. I turned my computer off every night, my friend let his run all the time. About a 1-2 year later, he had to replace a fan and I had to replace a power supply.

And? I am puzzled.
