American Kestrel

I have found nearby the house a nesting pair of American Kestrels, the nest is in the beams of the Electrical sub station that supplies the community. They roost above the nest. The female has been incubating the eggs and the male gathers up food. Yesterday there was some strong winds that kept them off balance and easier to photo with their wings open or flying. I used The Lumix G9 with the Panasonic Leica 100-400 lens
Enjoy

The American Kestrel is a lovely bird. They should provide a fabulous project, whilst confined to home.

I love the 4th & final images best. These little guys are my favorite raptors for their incredible coloration and their tiny scale of miniature proportions. The profile in the 4th image is a clear and almost falcon-like representation of the species....similar to Egyptian pictorials from ancient script.

I hope you can get more shots of them as they progress through the season. Nice work sir.
