I recently purchased and old copy of CS3. I really don't need an up to date version of photoshop since I really can't afford or really need it. I have an old copy of PS6, elements 9, and lightroom 3 all which are very old and out of date but are totally adequate for what I do. There were a few things I wanted to try that I needed a little more up to date version of PS. Due to ignorance on my part the CS3 that I purchased was CS3 Extended which seems to be an update to CS3 and after entering the serial number it wanted the number of the photoshop that I have but they don't show PS6. I contacted Adobe and they could not or would not help. I have the 30 day trial period but when that is gone I will not be able to use what I have. Are there any UHHers out there that have any ideas of a way that I can get around the trial period. Can I uninstall and reinstall what I have and continue to use it with a repeat of the trial or in a couple of weeks just mark it up as one of those mistakes made and learned from.

Yes, don’t steal intellectual property.

Do the legal, ethical, morally correct thing, and subscribe to one of the Adobe Photography Plans. $9.99 a month shouldn’t break you.

You may think you're 'saving' money, but you're really wasting both your time and money purchasing 'new' out of date and unsupported software. What computer and OS are you running? If you're connected to the internet with an out of date OS and / or missing virus protection, you're also putting your entire computer infrastructure at risk. If whoever sold you CS3 didn't provide a valid serial number and some level of satisfaction guarantee, cut your losses at the money and time wasted so far.

I believe you can buy Affinity Photo at half price from their website. It would be $25 well spent. It is an excellent option for PS.

First, I would do what CHG_Canon suggested and update your operating system and anti-virus.

Then, depending on what camera you have, most of them have free software to edit files. All you need to do is go to that manufacturer's support page and find your camera make/model and there should be software available to download. You may need to provide the camera serial number as proof of purchase.

Believe it or not, there are people in this world that can't or won't spend $9.99/month. If so, then they do not get the right to use Adobe products.
I don't think they should be brow-beaten for the choice not to spend that kind of money.

I did buy the software from an someone that just no longer used such an out of date piece of software. It was really all that I needed if not more than I needed.

I am using Windows 7 and have Avast virus protection. The CS3 I bought though unsupported was CS3 Extended which seems to be an update to CS, CS2, CS3, and PS7. It opens and I can use it but shows to be a trial version. I really don't do enough editing really for even the new soft ware. I agree that using old is a waste of time for anyone who uses it a lot but a few time a year even a little becomes a lot and a waste.

I can spend $9.99 / month with some shifting around my budget and doing without something else, but no more than I would use it I still think in the long run I would be wasting money.

The first part of my reply was for you. Check your camera manufacturers website. Most major camera companies provide free software.

The second part was meant for other audiences

Using unsupported software on an unsupported OS you should expect problems and understand there won’t be any support.

Rethink your second sentence. The current version would solve your problems. No you can't steal the software - aka getting around the trial period thing. Pony up, or get something else.

Mac App Store has the Affinity apps for $25 each, too.

If the sale was legal, the previous owner had to un-register it on Adobe.com, and provide you with all installation codes, license docs, EULA, etc.

Win 7 is dangerous, even with third party anti-malware support.

Every computer product comes with an unspecified expiration date. Murphy’s Law of computing says that any system that is perfected is abandoned in favor of something new and buggy or incomplete.

Win 10 with Affinity Photo would be a budget alternative. If your computer hardware can run Win 10 and meets Serif Affinity Photo’s specs, give it a try. Win 10 is still available as a free upgrade under some circumstances:

I recently got a free copy of Luminar 3. Luminar 4 is the latest version. This is not a trial version. I think this link still works!
