We are in a lock down and ordered to stay in your homes. Cabin fever was starting, so I grabbed my camera along with a 90mm macro lens and ring light and explored the back yard. Bees and butterfly were hand held as the move about too much. The plants were shot using a tripod.

I believe this was a Dancing Lady butterfly

Excellent pictures! Keep these coming. The first is one of the skipper butterflies. The other is generally called a painted lady butterfly. I've never heard of dancing lady, but there are many common names for insects.

In this case, no. I do have a couple of Canon lenses, but am using a Tamron 90mm macro and the ring flash is RPS, DRF-144. Purchased from, either, BH Photo or Adorama.(can't find receipt). Anyway, simple to use.

You sound like a friend of mine. He has a Nikon camera and we go back and forth which is better. Both are very good, but I WIN. Kidding aside, I always felt it was the person behind the camera and how he or she interprets the image. Thanks for saying the photos are nice.

Second one has amazing detail in the bee. What lens and settings did you use?
