need help. B&H has a refurb'd Nikon D810 I'm interested in. forgot what year the 810 and 810A came out. it's shutter count has 2150. Does the camera still have some life in it for limited photography use or not much ? thank all you hogs for your help in advance.

Well, that shutter should be good for at least 150,000 shutter count, and probably more like 200,000. So you can decide from there. Good luck.

Well, 2150 shots indicates it was only lightly used. In term's of shutter life expectancy, Nikon claims a shutter life for the D810 as 200,000 actuations. As a result, its reasonable to assume that with regard to the shutter the body you are considering is practically brand new.

Yep. Since 1966. Don't recall exactly when it came out. D810 was predecessor to D850. It's a very nice camera.

The D810 was released in July, 2014 and discontinued sometime in 2019.

If you are really interested in purchasing it, the D810 was a really terrific camera. Just because it was discontinued last year doesn't mean it's any less of a camera. This high level pro body wasn't abandoned by pros or experienced amateurs just because a newer version became available.

My manual for the D810 is dated 2014.

A D810, or any DSLR for that matter with a little over 2,000 clicks is hardly broken in. It's like mileage on a used car, nobody can tell it's limit. You should have a long life on your D810.

Look at it like miles on a used car as a good analogy.

A Nikon D810 should be able to handle 150,000 actuation of the shutter.

It was released in 2014

While there was a Nikon D810A. Nikon says it has no interest in manufacturing a D850A. And, as mentioned previously, the D810 is a discontinued full frame DSLR. A 2,150 is a low shutter count on that camera, for a pro level DSLR. It may be slightly high for a refurbished Nikon crop sensor, such as a D7200. But, it still will be serviceable for many years. The D7200 has a shutter lifespan of 100,000+ shutter clicks.
