How to search at UHH

From the title, what were you expecting?

Instructions on how to search at UHH?

Questions on how does one search at UHH?

How about neither...

Seems that the current MO (modus operandi, not Missouri) is to bastardize the English language.
It's happening everywhere.

If you saw a book titled "How to make bread", would you expect instructions or questions.

I tried searching here to see how may posts started with "How to" and was surprised that nothing was returned, not even for simply "how".
We know the search function here is not the greatest, but returning no results for a word known to exist in titles? Separate subject though.

Maybe people don't like typing?

Here are some titles, each providing different information about the content:

How do I do <a particular task>.

How to do <a particular task>.

My thoughts about <a particular task>.

Has anyone done<a particular task>.

And also -
"a particular task" This one provides a crap-load of information, doesn't it?

Same with location...
Albuquerque
<Shots of >
<What can I see in>
<Where's a good place to stay in>

I guess they quit teaching Communications 101 and 102.
Just use words, the fewer the better. If people don't understand you they'll either ask questions or jump to conclusions...
It doesn't matter if you communicate efficiently, you'll eventually get the idea across.
Maybe...

The teaser titles always disappoint me

My only salvation is if it's about an Adobe product, there is a high percentage that the program name is in the title, so I can skip right over it.

I wonder how many interesting things I may be missing because of poor titling.
I just skip the posts.

Google, put uglyhedgehog.com in quotes then the search terms you are looking for.

if you do something like the following examples, you will get a more specific return on your query:

site:uglyhedgehog.com bleirer quotes search terms
or
site: uglyhedgehog.com canon 5dmiv shutter stuck

Putting uglyhedgehog.com in quotes will only return pages that have that exact phrase somewhere on it.

But LS was making a point that people really aren't that great as explaining the thread in the titles.

My pet peeve with titles is those that say “Jones Park” or some such, and we get a series of bids or insects or whatever that could have been photographed in a number of locations, with no connection the park whatsoever.

The first thing I think of is "What about it?"!

My second thought is "I can see bugs and things at home, so where's the park?".

That's even better.
