We drove through our near-by, local autotour. There are almost no birds anywhere near the road anymore. I am not sure why--the way they recently engineered the place, past winters flooding? Anyway, almost on the way out, with no photos taken, we stopped the car and suddenly, this Great Egret appeared with a fresh-caught meal. (Pretty gruesome, so tread carefully if you are squeamish. Usually, the blood is not visible like this.)
Yes, I do feel sorry for the little guy, but that is how nature is.
Excellent action sequence, Katy!
What a bloody mess. LOL But it is a nice sequence. I've got a similar sequence minus all that blood.
A fella (or a gal) has to eat. I agree with UTMike, great action sequence.
Such is life, I got a similar sequence here in Las Vegas last year.

Yes Jeejp Daddy, the blood is over-dramatic but you take what you can get. Thanks so much.

Thanks a bunch for commenting, PH!
Thanks so much for the thumbs up, Longshadow.
Great action series, Katy. It's not too gruesome in it's own context. It's just great nature photography.
