Good question, from the photo it looks like it was close for sure. I took the photo about 3 years ago. My memory is not letting me remember if he was safe or out, so I guess I well have to go back into the archive and see if I have the few photos of the sequence and see. Thanks for looking in..

When I used to shoot sports, I always shot in bursts, so I didn't miss anything. Even back in the 35mm days, my Canon A1 had a motor drive that shot 5 fps. I remember once my shutter stuck at the beginning of a new roll; 36 exp in about 8 seconds, what a fun way to waste a roll of film.

Ok, I found the next couple that followed in sequence,
looks like he was SAFE, catcher missed the ball.
I think he may have been even the catcher had caught the ball.

The first one is fantastic! Sports Illustrated material. Thanks for sharing Tom.

Thanks so much. My father played pro baseball in 1945 &46. He loved the game and continued to play as I entered high school, when he switched to softball. He finally gave it up in 1984 at 58yrs. On Sundays it was always normal to go to church then to a double-header.
