Medium Format G.A.S. Yashica 12
I was the Rollei USA marketing manager for the last year before they tanked. TLRs had already disappeared in, what was it, 1982? The Rollei was far superior to any Japanese 6x6 competitor for body, mechanicals and glass. But, the Mamiya and Yashica TLRs were great values for the price and delivered very good quality compared to the best from 35mm competition. Never visited the camera repair techs in NJ to watch the disassembly of a Rolleiflex and ask any questions. Only two people were offered jobs to move from NJ to Honeywell in Denver. The Honeywell crew I met had no idea what they were doing. I turned them down.

I was once told by a guy I considered somewhat an expert that the Rollei had 26 parts moving between the shutter release and shutter. Is that accurate?.
Yes, I have had a Rollei apart to remove the lens - there are many MANY springs, levers and gears - that is why when something breaks you need a very experienced factory trained technician to begin to fix !! - also one reason why they COST so much
- very similar to Mercedes ..... simple is NOT part of the German psyche ......
