In 25 words or less, can anyone tell me the difference between Photos and Images?

A photo originates in a camera...an image could be a sketch, drawing, painting, shadow, reflection and so on.

Creating beautiful images is the best way to overcome inferior equipment.

All cleared up with six words to spare.

Google found a much more detailed answer including a photo ... of a picture and one of an image!

With todays cameras I don't see inferior equipment, I see inferior photographers or photographers that think only what they use as the best and every one else is second rate. Equipment can not make up for a lack of photographic vision.

Wow! This might be a record for how quickly a thread can get sidetracked!

The purpose of photography is to produce images. You can edit those images to look like photographs, but that's only one kind of image.

It's all a matter of semantics, current lingo, euphemisms, and fashionable buzzwords. Lots of it is just silly and causes confusion and lack of clarity. Sometimes it's "snobbery"!

There was a time when even great iconic master photographers simply referred tho their OWN work as "PICTURES"- I even remember art museum curators and gallery owners calling masterpiece paintings "PICTURES"!

In certain professional circles, it became unfashionable, outmoded, obsolete or kinda not classy to call pictures- "pictures"- they are PHOTOGRAPHS! We don't take pictures anymore we "MAKE PHOTOGRAPHS"! We don't SHOOT kids and brides we photograph CHILDREN and WEDDINGS! Other forbidden words are PROOFS or CONTACTS- the are "PREVIEWS" or "DEBUTE IMAGES" and God forbid, a professional photographer should ask for a "DEPOSIT or a RETAINER" when an "INVESTMENT" is a cooler word. How ridiculous in that? They are not buying into your business or buying stock in your corporation- they're simply making a reservation of making a down payment!

Perhaps "images" is a more authentic word since digital imaging has integrated more digital art and graphic arts into our final products.

Perhaps it's my early education and background in Brooklyn. My advice is to TALK PLAIN ENGLISH!, Sorry SPEAK EGLISH! ...Or whatever language is the first or official language of your country. It's getting that photographs are commutating Cockney Rhyming Slang and endless technobabble.

Straight talk has never impeded my relationships with my colleagues, friends, students, family or clients. When I tell customers "I'm gonna take your picture" rather than "I'm going to make an image of you" has never caused an issue.

Sorry for exceeding the 25-word limit- during social distancing/quarantine time- there is more time to type!

I go with the interpretation below for image, but I think it's whatever someone wants! The two words are interchangeable and include other words, too. For example, pic, picture, snapshot. A photograph is something that results from the image, for me, anyway, so a photograph would be printed on something. Just my opinion. Doesn't really matter what we call it, just that we can do it!

none - they are synonyms on this forum. And you may want to consider ceasing your trolling - no one likes a troll. But I do have a remedy.
