Nice--one of the better heron shots I’ve seen. It is different from the usual.

This is fabulous! Great job with the silky water and the crisp heron, good use of contrasting “textures ”.

A fantastic image!!!
The GBH is the start, the waterfall is a fantastic background .
The only change I would make is to remove the black spot about 1.5in above the birds beak.

Good eye, Manglesphoto! I've already removed it from the paper print file but not sure how to switch Flickr images without having to redo the link in UHH.

Or I'll just stick to a story that it is a floating Buckeye coming over the falls. lol

Turns out that Flickr has an easy "replace picture" function, and this is the test to see if it carries over to a UHH linked image.

Looks like it worked fine here and works if one clicks on the link below the photo in my first post, but the defect is probably baked in to UHH archives on a search.

Oh, well. I'll just have to check closer next time before uploading...

I like this not only for the technique, but also the very unusual (to me) juxtaposition of the GBH (a dime a dozen in SWFL) and the waterfall (hard to find in the swamps). Very cool.

Now you know how I felt when first seeing a UHH post of a GBHE nest flat on the ground in a swamp. Around here they nest in large rookeries way up in a tall tree, usually a sycamore. We have sort of a swamp in far western Ky, and I'll check and see how they nest there.
