Edible? Years ago, I have gathered mushrooms on the western slope at 10,000-ft. We dried them in a dehydrator, and used in cooking for several months. Usually late summer.

Great question. I wish I knew. I know I was around 10,000 feet and it was late summer. After such a dry year, I was surprised by the number of different types that I saw. They all appeared after a recent rainstorm. Erring on the side of caution I chose just to photograph them. If I had consumed them and they were poisonous, all my efforts would have been for naught and you wouldn't have gotten to see this picture.

I suggest a bit of cropping to remove the color distraction in background.

Tried to key the mushroom out, thought it looked like a Gomphidus, which are edible, but just not sure.
