Want to get a book written in simple language that covers learning what all the buttons and dails do on a camera.
Manuals don't help me. Written in Farcy(sp)
Just bought DSLR for beginners by Brain Black. Stumbling thru. On pg 2 he started using terms that I would have reserved for page 50.
Huggers --throw me some ideas.
Thanks

What terms?
Be hard pressed to find a book that doesn't have something out of order.
Maybe look them up as you go?
One alternative if you have internet access You Tube. You can search for videos on you specific camera. What I frequently do is watch part of the video and then go to my camera and repeat what the video just covered. Then restart the video and go on to the next function, try it with your camera etc.
Another suggestion, but needs to be delayed until the corona virus issues are behind us would be to find a camera club and ask if members have experience with your camera and see if they would be willing to help you learn about various settings.
Good luck, it takes time and repetition to become really proficient.
David Bush writes excellent books. Magic Lantern also are good books.
Jim Quist---
Just bought it!! Amazon Prime

I strongly recommend starting with:
1. The exposure triangle -

3. Follow by reading Bryan Peterson's book Understanding Exposure, $15.99 -

Finally, use these free Bryan Peterson videos. They are very short, usually 2-10 minutes long, easy to understand, and will simplify your photographic education.:

Shoot a scene in "P" or "A" mode, then take a shot of the same scene using settings you select and compare the results (note differences) of (Exposure Triangle) shutter speed (SS), F-Stop, ISO, etc.
Above all, remember that photography is fun, and rewarding, so enjoy your photographic journey.

In terms of buttons and bells, Darryl Young writes wonderful guides, published by Rocky Nook. Without knowing what camera you have I can’t give you a specific title.
David Busch’s guide specifically for the D300. Google it, you can find used copies for sale.

If it was me, and it is not, I would take a beginners course in photography. But, wait a while before taking the class.
Was in a seminar held by local camera club.
When I asked the leader what this button my camera was and what did it do---she looked the camera and said---- Oh, I'm a Canon only person!!
So much for that seminar. Kinda scared off from seminars!!

I would look at an on line learning site. I like Creative Live. You can buy a course about a specific camera or a photography course. If the course is being shown live it’s free. Check it out. I own 3 courses from them.
