They closed the State Stores here in PA but wine and beer are still available at grocery stores and I saw a beer store open yesterday. I guess if the hard stuff is unavailable one could just double on wine!

My big bottle of vodka has been shrinking behind my back. The missus says she is using it for hand sanitizer but I'm not sure I believe her.

A Vodka maker in Texas sent out a notice a couple of weeks ago telling people NOT to use their vodka as a sanitizer because it didn't have enough alcohol to do the job right. Just the other day they announced that they had received permission from the liquor control authorities to sell a line of sanitizer that they were making, after repurposing some of their production line and bringing in some new ingredients.

In my area of the country, gun stores are also considered "Essential"
What could possibly go wrong with that combination?

Pot shops and liquor stores in Denver were initially ordered to be closed, but the mayor succumbed to the pressure and ordered them to be left open. Doobie and jagerbombs are staples, I guess.

Here in the Lehigh Valley a local maker of Vodka has made up a batch of Rum flavored hand sanitizer to go to the hospitals in the area. My daughter who works for one of the large hospitals said yea, those will end up in the Doctors and administrators offices and we won't see a drop of it in the ER!

The mayor of Denver announced that liquor stores and pot shops would have to close, but the next day, our horrible governor changed it and said they were "essential".

I don't have a problem with them staying open. But I wonder why "essential". Most in my area will allow you to call them with your order and they will deliver to your car.

It would have to be at least 120 proof to be useable as a sanitizer, so I'll just have to drink my gin and bourbon. I think there are some rums that surpass that level.

I've heard that the corner drug dealers are limited to a single customer at a time and that they must maintain a minimum distance of 6-ft. apart when they do business. However just like drive-through restaurants, selling drugs out of the car are still allowed.

Give entrepreneurs a week and they'll figure out a completely new way to run their old business. It's what they do.

I had a sociology instructor in college once tell the class that from a historical perspective, as soon as any group/society gets beyond having enough food and shelter (hunter/gatherers in caves) the first thing they do is make some alcohol or other substance to "adjust their attitude"
With that in mind it IS essential.
