My first ever Bee Fly, a Dotted Bee Fly (Bombylius discolor). Its wings have spots all over them.

Not a true macro, I only had a 70-300 lens with me so a massive crop, a macro spider added.

Bee Flies are difficult - I will say that my experiences using a 75-300 as a macro for insects have been very favorable.

Yes it was difficult quixdraw and today the wind was blowing the flowers all over the place. I don't think I would have been able to get close enough even if I had been using a macro lens. Thanks for commenting.

Yes Bob, and the springtails also give an idea of the spider's size, it was small.

Nice set, Brenda. The wind has made it tough for my macro shots, too.

Yes, it was quite a treat for me to see one, I will go back tomorrow with the macro. We are only allowed out for 1 walk/run/cycle each day so I am making my dog walk a long one How do you explain to a dog he can only have one walk a day when he normally has 2?

By any chance are you familiar with "Searcher" who I think was also from Kent. He passed away a few years ago but he was a very active member on this forum.

Hi FiddleMaker, I did not know him personally but through the forum he did help me set up my first speedlight a long time ago. I had wondered what had happened to him, he also did a lot of work collating software packages for the forum and was a very helpful member. He has been missed I am sure. Thank you for letting us know that he has passed away, I know other members will in the macro group will remember him well.
